Report writing is the bottleneck. If you survey for 8 hours and write for 8 hours, your hourly rate just got cut in half.
1. Voice Dictation is King
Stop typing. Learn to dictate. "Siri, new paragraph. Analysis of the AC panel revealed reverse polarity."
Pro Tip: Dictate the finding while looking at it. Your description will be 10x more accurate than trying to remember it 2 days later.
2. Photo Sequencing
Take photos in the same order as your report template.
- Hull -> Deck -> Rigging -> Interior -> Systems -> Engine.
- If your photos match your template structure, you can just drag-and-drop down the list without scrolling.
3. The "Clean Up" Edit
Don't format as you write. Dump the data in. Fix the spelling/formatting at the very end. Switching between "Writer Mode" and "Editor Mode" burns cognitive energy.
Conclusion
Organize your data logically, and the report writes itself. Chaos in the field equals agony at the desk.
